One of the first my cocktail in this blog has already included Absinthe and I initially looked forward to do remake past post — translate in English, reshoot a photo, but my first participation in Mixology monday was kind of remake. I decided to do something new.
February Mixology Monday takes place at Sonja's Thinking of Drinking. This round of monthly online cocktail party promises to become one of the most intresting. It is a sight to see!
Absinthe is a great liquor. There are a good few of infusion in the world, but absinthe is a very specific spirit. It is magic, glamorous and dangerous.
Strangely enough danger of absinthe is explained not a presence of psychoactive substance (thujone), it is explained by hard spirit and dirt in solution. In the 18th century shoddy absinthe is added color by sulphate of copper. In the 21th century shoddy absinthe is diluted by hard spirit a concentrate of herb. Absinthe has a hight proof and often is drinked wrong. Due to ignorance of people the drinker becomes berserk, fighting and sicking up.
In the name of absinthe is called one of the diseases — absinthism (side by side with alcoholism, toxicomania and narcomania). There is in Russia one proverb: devil is not so black as he is painted. Absinthe for a long time is wrapped in myths, such as a myth that thujone is a cannabinoid. And now when like fairy tales are exploded absinthe comes back to life.
One way or another drink pure absinthe means to buy a ticket to nuttery. Absinthe should be make up to sufficient concentration. Classic method is quite right, but this post is a cocktail post, so I am publishing nice drink with taste of passion fruit.
Tea of Samurai
30 ml absinthe
15 ml passion fruit syrup
20 ml lime juiceMuddle a flesh of fresh passion fruit, add ingredients, hardly shake with ice and strain in old-fashioned glass with crash ice. Add 2−3 ounces of cold still water.
It is a right cocktail! A sufficient dilution helps don't hinder ethanol and thujone in their systemic action. But it is ounly in case if you have quality absinthe. In Russia it means just high-priced absinthe.

Sonja, your first comment has set me wrong, and only now I understand what did you mean actually! You have translated not exactly. You wrote something like grandiose grand post, and I cannot possibly understood what is happening???
That reminds me among the orthodox christians there is Lent on.
